Our story

We built the tool we wish existed

Preciprocal started as a frustrated student's side project. It became something bigger when we realized the frustration was universal.

The job search is broken — and everyone pretends it's not.

You spend hours crafting a resume, write a cover letter for every application, and then wait. Most of the time you hear nothing. No feedback. No explanation. Just silence.

Our founder went through this. 200+ applications. Automated rejections from companies that never even saw the resume. Interviews that went "really well" and never called back. The whole process felt like shouting into a void.

So instead of accepting it, we started reverse-engineering it. What do ATS systems actually score? What do recruiters look at in the first 6 seconds? What questions do companies like Google, McKinsey, and Goldman actually ask — and how do they evaluate answers?

Preciprocal is the answer to all of that. Not a chatbot you paste your resume into. A purpose-built system with tools calibrated to how hiring actually works.

Who's behind it

Yash Harale

Founder

Applied to 200+ jobs, reverse-engineered why most failed, and built Preciprocal to give every student the same unfair advantage that expensive career coaches give to a lucky few.

How we got here

Early 2024

The frustration starts

Our founder applied to 200+ jobs across tech and finance, got ghosted by 80% of them, and couldn't figure out why. Resume looked good. Interviews felt fine. But nothing landed.

Mid 2024

The experiment

Started building small AI scripts to score resumes against job descriptions, generate tailored cover letters, and simulate interview questions. Shared them with classmates — they actually worked.

Late 2024

Preciprocal is born

Turned the scripts into a proper product. Named it Preciprocal — a nod to the reciprocal exchange between preparation and results. Built in public from day one.

Growing with real users

Real students using it, real feedback shaping it. Every feature on the roadmap comes from a conversation with a user who had a problem we hadn't solved yet.

What we believe

These aren't wall-poster values. They're decisions that show up in how we price, build, and talk to users.

Honesty over hype

We don't fake testimonials, pad user counts, or make promises we can't keep. When we say something works, we mean it.

Built for speed

Job searching is already exhausting. Every tool we build is designed to save you hours, not add to your to-do list.

Your data is yours

Your resume, interview recordings, and job history are never sold, never used to train models without consent, and always deletable.

Affordable on purpose

We deliberately priced Preciprocal below a Netflix subscription. Career tools shouldn't be a luxury for people who already have jobs.

Our mission

“Make expert-level career preparation accessible to every student, regardless of where they went to school or who they know.”

The students who land the best jobs often aren't the most qualified — they're the best prepared. We're here to fix that.

Have a question or want to talk?

We're a small team and we actually read every email. Whether it's feedback, a bug report, or just to say hi — reach out.
